Smoking Cessation

The Mend Smoking Cessation Program

But you are different, and you can quit. With the Mend Smoking Cessation Program, you will.

Our 16-week program could change your life. There is only one condition: you have to want it. You have to want to quit smoking more than you have wanted anything because this is going to be some of the toughest 16 weeks of your life. We’re in if you are.

It’s not going to be easy, but it is doable.

    Mend Smoking Cessation Program Q&A

    Why should I quit smoking?

There are so many reasons to quit.

First, it’s expensive! A pack a day averages $6.18 a day. That’s $2200 a year. You can take a trip, or pay off a credit card, or save for your kids college with that money. Also, you might be eligible for lower health insurance premiums once you quit.

Second, and most importantly, you will be healthier. Within two to three months of quitting your lung function will improve. Smoking also increases your risk for cancer of the lungs (obviously!), but also the stomach, mouth, throat, kidney, cervix, pancreas and bladder. Ten years after quitting your lung cancer death rate is about half that of a smoker’s and your risk of other cancers also decrease.

Men who smoke are more likely to have impotence (erectile dysfunction). In just 3 months after quitting, blood flow throughout your body improves, increasing your chances of having a healthy sexual life.

You probably don’t notice the smell, but when you quit smoking you will smell better. You’ll also look better. Smoking causes wrinkles around the mouth and the skin to loss its elasticity faster. By quitting you can prevent further damage. Food will taste better because you’ll actually be able to taste it. You’ll likely sleep better.

Finally, you’ll be free. Free from the excuses, from the stepping out of meetings, free from the guilt. You’ll be a good example to your friends, family, and especially your kids. You’ll show them, and yourself, that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

What medications do you prescribe for smoking cessation?

Quitting tobacco cold turkey is very difficult. There are many over the counter regimens to help people quit smoking such as nicotine gum, nicotine lozenges, and nicotine patches. Additionally, there are several prescription medications that can help including Chantix and Wellbutrin. Medically, we have found that prescription medication is more effective.

If you are a candidate, we will prescribe them to you after a careful medical screening and monitor your health and progress while you are on them.

Will my insurance pay for Mend Smoking Cessation?

It should! Most insurances will pay for smoking cessation. As a courtesy we will bill your insurance, but you will be responsible for any out of pocket expenses.
